Spring Happy Hour Thursday, March 21
It’s officially spring and our highly accurate weather forecasters are predicting chilly temperatures. Regardless, spring racing season is heating up and it’s a perfect time to gather to discuss Grand Prix strategy at Capitol City Brewing Company (1100 New York Avenue NW, D.C. 20005) from 6 – 8 p.m. I’ll see you there!
So! You want to be in movies?
Do you? Do you? The Washington Running Club is a good looking bunch, especially in our skin tight and flashy running clothes. Apparently, there is a casting call for US.
HBO’s series, VEEP, starring Julia Louis Dreyfus (and yes, she will be there) is filming a scene requiring a large number of runners. The shoot will be on Wednesday, March 20th in Baltimore, MD.
If you are interested, you need to be available ALL day. You will be PAID $75 (and thus be a professional actor or model). You need to supply your own running gear and do your own makeup. I recommend waterproof mascara. Ask Christine.
Contact Emily at Pat Moran Talent Agency at 410-558-0400. She is super nice.
Or you can email patmorantalent@gmail.com with your age, your contact information and a cute photo.
Lights! Camera! Action! That sounds almost as good as ready, set, go!
Club Neutralizes Sequester with New Stimulus Plan

The LetsRun.com Bourse was caught unprepared for this development, and gossip volumes ticked upwards.
The bank’s Board of Governors explained their decision as a “necessary, direct, and proportional response” to the grave dangers posed by the painful Sequester, including furloughs, excess free time spent aimlessly loafing between coffee shops and watering holes, an increased access to daylight, and other miscellaneous forms of obstructionism.

The arctic gale could not suppress noble vigorous youthful pursuits at Sunday’s GW Birthday Marathon and Relay, hosted by the DC Road Runners. WRC coordinated with the Dojo to take the top two men’s team places, and sweep the co-ed team division! Continue reading
No Snow Sunday in Washington DC
A great group showed up for a sunny Sunday run. We knew our friends to the north were getting their cardio in with snow shoveling repeats…but we broke a nice sweat and thought about sunblock.
- Tris takes his fashion cues from Gerry and Lucy.
- Mike is back!
- Club policy dictates that no two shirts should be alike.
- Kit, Christine, Drew and Dan welcome the sun.
- Michaela and Nelson are right on time.
- Washington Running Club dominates on Sunday morning. A pack starts the Bridges Run and a small pack hits the Canal.
A Supposedly Tough Thing I’ll Probably Do All Over Again
Yes, we have most definitely relaunched washrun.org, as part of a broader communications effort this year: to share this club’s marvelous history across the past four decades, to enhance our ability to take on new running challenges, and to accelerate the telling of new and exciting stories. Allow me to point out a couple of new features and design choices that will hopefully work toward those ends!
