As always, there’s a lot going on at WRC!
Volunteer Opportunity at the Roosevelt Run 5k
Want to give back to the sport you love? Each year, the Washington Running Club supports the Roosevelt Run 5k, a beautiful evening race on the Mt. Vernon trail. This year, it’s on Thursday, August 27 at 7:00 p.m. and starts at the Mt. Vernon trail head near the Key Bridge. We’ll need six volunteers for the following positions:
- Registration table (1 person)
- Water stop support (2 people)
- Memorial Bridge station (1 person)
- Turnaround point (1 person)
- General support (1 person)
If you’re interested in volunteering, send an email to lauren@washrun.org. Click here for more information about the event. Thanks!
First Sunday Distance Run!
It’s hard to believe, but the first Sunday of August is upon us, which means we’ll take our First Sunday photo. Come in your running best, or whatever is best to beat the heat, and we’ll take the picture pre-run to memorialize another great month of WRC.
As always, we’ll meet in front of the CB2 store in Georgetown and will have three pace groups of 7:30/8:00 min/mile, 8:00/8:30 min/mile, and 10:00/11:00 min/mile each running anywhere from 8-18 miles. Most of our runs are out-and-back, so it’s easy to add or cut mileage.
After the run, we’ll meet at Dean and Deluca for coffee, carbs, and conversation!
Hope to see you there!
