Last 8 am start time of the season!

Join WRC tomorrow, on 5/26, at 8am in front of CB2 in Georgetown for our Sunday long run. Afterwards, we’ll head to Dean and DeLuca for coffee and conversation.

IMPORTANT: This will be our final 8am start time of the season before we switch to summer hours. Beginning June 2, the Sunday run will start at 7am.

Grammy Award Winning Sunday Social Run

Our weather luck seems to have run out, so plan for a cold Sunday social run this week. We’ll gather in front of the CB2 in Georgetown at 8:00, run a bit, and meet back up for coffee and conversation.

Please mark your calendar for our annual meeting and party, which will take place on Saturday evening, March 2. Details are still being finalized, but members in good standing who attend will receive free food, a free drink ticket, and will participate in our annual raffle (with fabulous prizes).

Sunday Run

Please be prepared for some road closures on your way to WRC’s 8:00 am social run tomorrow morning. The Marine Corps Marathon will cause some road closures near our CB2 meeting spot, but the group has traditionally met on MCM Sunday, so I expect that if you’re able to make it, there will be some others there as well. It sounds like most of the WRC board will be racing tomorrow or out of town, so don’t wait around for us!

WRC also has an opportunity to assist with the Georgetown Half Marathon on October 29. We have been asked to provide the race with a handful of WRC volunteers to staff three water stops on the course from approximately 8:00 am until (at the latest) noon. Our participation would mean a generous contribution to WRC’s financial health. If you are at all interested in helping out (or for more information), email our treasurer, James Scarborough, at jbs1958@comcast.net, and copy me (jordan@washrun.org).

May 19-Happy Hour and Sunday Run!

Don’t forget to come out to the Happy Hour at the Sculpture Garden this evening (National Gallery of Art, Jazz in the Garden) starting at 4:30. It will be a great time and a chance to say farewell to long-time WRC member Emily Buzzell who is going back to school.

We’ll be meeting on Sunday for our weekly social run.  It looks like the weather will cooperate, so come join us outside of the CB2 in Georgetown at 8:00 am.  Stick around for coffee (almost certainly at Dean and Deluca based on the weather report).  As always, all are welcome, so bring a friend along.
It’s May Membership Drive (kind of like NPR Pledge Drive, but less annoying).  If WRC enriches your life, please become a dues-paying member.  It’s just pennies a day.  http://www.washrun.org/payments/

Stay tuned for a WRC survey in coming weeks, and our summer Saturday neigborhood runs, starting soon.

Movie Night Reminder and Sunday Run

Hey all,
Another reminder that we will be seeing Boston, An American Running Story, which is playing at the Gallery Place Cinema at April 19 at 7:30 pm. We will hold a happy hour at Clyde’s of Gallery Place nearby, starting at 4 when the drinks and raw bar are half price.

And as usual, join us this Sunday at 8:00 AM in front of the Georgetown CB2 store for our weekly long run! Sweat a lot, get those endorphins roaring, and stick around for coffee, carbs, and conversation afterwards.
