Sunday Distance Run for 12/6 and GOOD LUCK JULIA TAYLOR!!

WRC is meeting this weekend for a long run, but first let me say GOOD LUCK to Julia

Don't mess with her, folks!

Don’t mess with her, folks!

Taylor, our very own superstar. She’s running the California International Marathon on Sunday, just coming off the heels of an outstanding performance at the New York City Marathon. CIM is her target race for the fall and we can’t wait to see the results.

Julia is one of the most committed runners out there. ย She doesn’t mess around with training, she races with all of her heart, and she never fails to impress us with her endurance AND speed. GO JULIA GO!

Sunday Distance Run – don’t forget it’s the FIRST Sunday of the month

The WRC harriers will be meeting on Sunday, December 6 at 8:00 a.m. in front of the CB2 store in Georgetown. We’ll have groups running anywhere between 8-20 miles (depending on training schedules) and three paces groups – 7/7:30, 8/8:30, and 10/10:30. Afterwards, we’ll meet at Dean & Deluca for coffee and carbs.

The 6th is the first Sunday of the month which means it’s group picture day! That’s right, if you attend this run, you’ll be captured in a small piece of WRC history, along with a sweet cover photo on our Facebook page.

See you out there!

Join us for our next Sunday Distance Run on November 15!

Hey runner friends!

The next WRC long run is this Sunday, November 15 at 8:00 a.m. in front of the CB2 store in Georgetown. We’ll have three pace groups of 7:00/7:30, 8:00/8:30, and 10:00/10:30 min/mile. Distances will vary as many folks are recovering from fall marathons, but most of our runs are out and back so it’s easy to add on or cut back.

Afterwards, we’ll meet at Dean & Deluca for coffee/carbs/conversation.

If you need inspiration to come out and meet us, check out our fun group at happy hour on Thursday ๐Ÿ™‚

Congrats NYC Marathoners!

Last Sunday, WRC runners Julia Taylor and John Kendra ran the New York City Marathon and, true to form, ran great!

Julia, who is in the middle of her training cycle for the California International Marathon, ran a 3:52:13 – awesome! We can’t wait to see how she does at CIM.

John ran 3:02:57, a Boston Marathon-qualifying time.

We’re incredibly proud of both of you and your superb performances in New York. We’ll see you when you’re back to running after a well-deserved break!

Good Luck NYC Marathon Runners + Sunday Distance Run!

Marathon Galore

Marathon season is in full swing with Marine Corps Marathon last weekend and the New York City Marathon this weekend! Best of luck to Julia Taylor and John Kendrick this weekend. Both have been incredibly dedicated to their training and we can’t wait to see all that hard work pay off.

Congrats to Mark Lee, Nathan Hauke, and Mike Sanders for their excellent efforts at Marine Corps Marathon! Mark ran 3:40, Nathan a 3:50:07, and Mike edging the 3 hour mark with a 2:59:58. Now, take some quality recovery time and we’ll see you back out at a run sometime soon!

For anyone running a marathon this fall, we’d love to see race reports! Send them our way if you’re interested in posting on the WRC website and Facebook page.

Sunday Distance Run for 11/1

Our next Sunday Distance Run is scheduled for Sunday, November 1 at 8:00 a.m. in front of the CB2 Store in Georgetown. Parking is free on Sunday. Because it’s the first day of the month, we’ll take our First Sunday photo!

We’ll have groups running anywhere from 8-20 miles at 7:00-7:30 min/mile pace, 8:00-8:30 min/mile pace, and 10:00-10:30 min/mile pace. Most of our runs are out and back, so you can easily add on or cut back depending on your weekly requirements.

Afterwards, we’ll meet at Dean and Deluca for coffee, carbs, and conversation.

DON’T FORGET: The clock falls back one hour this weekend, meaning an extra hour of sleep and an even better run (or, more time celebrating Halloween).

Good luck MCM runners + no Sunday Long Run this weekend

Marine Corps Marathon weekend is quickly approaching and it’s one of the most exciting weekends in DC, especially for the runners! I ran past the Iwo Jima memorial yesterday and saw the mile markers ready to be placed throughout the city. Although I’m not running it this year, it still gave me butterflies!

As you can imagine, there will be many road closures this weekend and as such, WRC will not be hosting a Sunday Long Run. We’ll meet back next weekend on November 1.

However, be sure to go out and cheer for our runners as they put their months of hard work to use at MCM! Nathan, Mark, and Mike are running it, along with Walter from Florida who joined us for our happy hour back in June. We’re proud of you and know you’ll do amazing! Have fun out there, runners!

Sunday Distance Run for September 27, 2015

The next Sunday Distance Run for WRC is on Sunday, September 27 at 8:00 a.m. We’ll meet in front of the CB2 store in Georgetown.

Every week, we have three pace groups – 7:00-7:30 min/mile, 8:00-8:30 min/mile, and 10:00-10:30 min/mile – all running between 8 and 20 miles.

There will definitely be a group running 22 miles at 8:00/8:30 pace on the Capital Crescent/Beach Drive loop. Most of our runs have out-and-back options, so if you’re looking to run less (or more) you can always add on or cut back regardless of the pace group!

After the run, we’ll gather at Dean & Deluca for coffee and carbs ๐Ÿ™‚

See you there!
