Cherry Blossom 10-Miler: Windy and Wonderful

If you weren’t at the Cherry Blossom 10 miler, you probably heard the wind howling through the night. It was no match for the WRC team, though – all of our runners had strong races despite harsh conditions. It should be a huge confidence booster going into the Boston Marathon this weekend! Here’s the results:
  • Kirk Masterson  1:04:18  (Master’s Team)
  • Helen Burns  1:06:42
  • Jordan Konig  1:10:20  (Master’s Team)
  • Julia Taylor  1:13:25  (Master’s Team)
  • Kathy Schroeder  1:13:41
  • Jesse Frantz  1:24:38
  • Dale Gerew  1:27:13 (Master’s Team)
  • James Scarborough  1:30:02 (Master’s Team)
I’m thrilled to say that our Master’s Team came in 6th overall! Congrats to all of our runners and thanks to Pat and Mike for cheering in less than ideal conditions.

Post-race…warm with friends but cold from wind.

Sunday Distance Run for 4/3 is ON

Our Sunday Distance Run for April 3 is ON. Numbers may be small as a lot of our group is either racing or cheering at Cherry Blossom, but the SDR is sure to be a good time. We’ll meet at 8:00 a.m. in front of the CB2 Store in Georgetown followed by coffee/carbs at Dean & Deluca. All paces welcome.

Cherry Blossom 10 Miler Weekend!

WRC has several runners competing in the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler on Sunday, April 3: Julia, Dale, Helen, Kirk, James, and Jordan. Best of luck!!

Here’s the plan:

Our cheer station will be located behind the Lincoln Memorial. We’ll be able to see runners as the enter and exit the Memorial Bridge (just after mile 1 and 2, respectively), as well after the Kennedy Center overpass (miles 3.5 ish)

After the race, we’ll meet just north of the Washington Monument for bagels and warmth in numbers smile emoticon See you then!
