Washington Running Club

Daylight savings time ends Sunday, November 6th, 2011 (at 2 a.m., if you want to be precise about when you adjust your clocks and watches). Clocks are set back one hour = one hour extra of sleep prior to our Sunday run at 8 a.m.  I hope to see you out there!

Due to the running of the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday, October 30, 2011, WRC will not be meeting up for a run. All WRC members, runners, and non-runners alike are highly encouraged to cheer on the MCM participants. Good luck to all the runners next weekend!

Sunday runs will start at 8:00 a.m. beginning September 25, 2011. We survived the summer heat and humidity and now it is time to enjoy the fall weather and racing season. We've definitely put in the sweat over this summer and hope that this translates into solid performances this fall.

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the Friends of the W&OD 10k race a success! Congratulations to all the race participants as well for slugging it out in the heat and humidity.

I highly encourage those who raced to write up their own race report for the club's newsletter to share their unique perspective on their race performance and the race itself.

Where: Ellington Apartments Party Suite, 1301 U St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20009 (nearest Metro station is U Street on the Green & Yellow lines)

Admission: $5 for members/$10 for non-members

WRC is forming teams for the CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield National Half Marathon Team Relay (3 legs: 5 miles, 5 miles, and 3.1 miles).  We would like to have a strong WRC presence.  We already have one all-female team (Christine, Joanna, and Amanda) and one all-male team (John K., Jerry I., and Dan Y.).

Check out the 2nd Annual Anthem Great Pumpkin 5k on October 9, 2010 at Reston Town Center. After the race, stay for the Oktoberfest celebration.

Calling all new and potential members to join WRC members on a fun run!  May's Fun Run is on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 7 pm.  We are meeting in front of the Logan Circle Lululemon at 1461 P Street NW.
