Info
The Washington Running Club (WRC)
is a long-distance running club, incorporated as non-profit organization
in Washington, DC. The club is steeped in tradition dating back to 1974
when some members of the precedent Washington Sports Club split to develop
a distinct club with a greater focus on running. For more history on the
WRC go to the History
& Recognition page.
|
| As a non-profit, the WRC
is run by volunteer efforts. As such, officers and members volunteer their
time and efforts to make the club fun and operate effectively. Thus, they
are not paid in any way in their dealings with the WRC and do not seek
to profit financially from the goodwill and running efforts of its members.
This extends to all functions of the club and its membership, such as presidential
and officer duties, website development and administration, running group
organization, coaching or workout advice, etc. In other words, members
belong to the club and participate on its behalf simply because they enjoy
the sport of distance running and the comaraderie it involves! |
| WRC members strive to train hard,
run fast, and partake in the running community. This does not imply that
we're only a club to elite runners as we have people of all abilities.
Some are in their prime, some in the twilight of their careers, but most
fall somewhere in between. Overall, we work to maintain and improve our
running, keep healthy and fit, and have fun enjoying the sport. |
