2. TRACK WORKOUT, Tuesday (9/05). At the Washington-Lee High
School track. The speed workout begins at 6:30pm. Show up earlier to warm
up a couple of miles if you can. See the website for directions. Parking
is a bit difficult because the school is being renovated and the parking
lot is closed. Park on the streets nearby, but be respectful of those that
live in the neighborhood please. Of course, the school is metro accessable
(Ballston metro stop).

(Last week the track was closed so those who showed hit the trail, always
our fallback. This week the high school schedule shows the track as open
tonight. Now, if the weather will just cooperate...)
Tonight's Forecast: Cloudy with rain likely. A thundershower is
possible as well, especially early. Low 64F. Winds N at 10 to 15 mph. Chance
of rain 80%. Rainfall may reach one inch. Locally heavier rainfall possible.
Track workouts, like all WRC activities, are voluntary. If you choose
to come out, be sure to properly hydrate and bring water or a sports drink.
Also, listen carefully to your body while doing the track workout.

3. SUNDAY DISTANCE RUN (9/10). For a run ranging from 10-14 miles
(some do more) at various paces, we meet at the 3300 block of M Street
in Georgetown at 8:00 a.m. (1.5 blocks down from the Key Bridge). Parking
is plentiful on M Street. See the website (washrun.org) for directions
to the run if you need them.
After the run, we regroup at Dean & Deluca on M Street to talk up
the town in between sips and bites.

4. ITEMS OF INTEREST
A. New Members. We welcome Anne-Marie Adams (VA), Rachel DiCaro
(MD), and Donna Lewis (DC) to the WRC! So far this year we've had 50 new
members, 24 ladies and 26 men.
B. Training Tips by Keith Dowling, Race Director of the National
Marathon. For some interesting information about training for a marathon,
check this out:

Pacers (local running store with locations in Alexandria and Arlington)
is handling race management for the National Marathon.
C. New Member Request. Kathleen Diina posts that she has a relay team
of 5 women and is looking for a 6th member for the Reach the Beach Relay
in September. She is on a tight deadline so if anyone is interested in
being on her team, please email her a.s.a.p. at: kdiina@akingump.com
D. Philadelphia Distance Run Discount. This in from the Race Director:
SAVE NOW! on entry fee for Jefferson Hospital Philadelphia Distance Run.
We're offering members of your running group a $10 discount on the entry
fee for the 2006 Jefferson Hospital Philadelphia Distance Run (half marathon)
on September 17, 2006. To obtain this discount, you must register online
at www.runphilly.com and type in HISTORY when prompted for a coupon code
during the online registration process. The code expires when online
registration closes on September 9, so REGISTER SOON!
Half Marathon Entry Fee: 6/16/06-9/9/06 $55; with discount $45; at Expo

5. Georgetown Running Event. On Saturday, September 16th, the
yearly 5k Run in memory of Terry Fox to benefit the Washington Cancer
Institute will take place at 8 a.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown
at 2800 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. at the Four Seasons. This is a FREE run,
but with a $30 donation, each runner will receive a shirt. Registration
can be done race day morning or prior to the event at www.signmeupsports.com

at various paces, we meet at the 3300 block of M Street in Georgetown at
8:00 a.m. (1.5 blocks down from the Key Bridge). Parking is plentiful on
M Street. See the website (washrun.org) for directions to the run if you
need them.
After the run, we regroup at Dean & Deluca
on M Street for coffee tawk.

B. New Members. The WRC welcomes Chip Berry,
31, VA, into the club! That makes 51 new members so far in 2006, 27 men
and 24 women!
C. TWO WRC TEAMS IN NATION'S TRIATHLON "BEST
CLUB IN DC" COMPETITION. The WRC has two relay teams competing in the
Nations Triathlon “Best Club in DC” competition. Chip Berry , Bart Forsyth,
and Will Schaffer make up the WRC all male team, and Anne-Marie Adams,
Steve Money, and Kyle Yost are hoping to take the coed crown for the WRC.
There will be some stiff competition from some of the local triathlon clubs,
though.
The race is this Saturday (9/16) morning with
the swim and transition area right at the Washington Harbor and the finish
at the Washington Monument . The race starts at 7:30am with the relays
starting in the final wave at 8:04am. It’ll be fun to watch and we encourage
folks to come spectate and cheer our superb teams on! And we wish
them the best of luck and endurance!
D. MCM BIB AVAILABLE.I just wanted to inform your
running group that I have a running spot open in the upcoming in the Oct
2006 Marine Corps marathon. I was recently injured and need an extra few
weeks to start training for another one. Please forward this to your group

The WRC fielded two relay teams, who did us proud
(1st and 3d)! This inaugural event was actually a duathlon, with 2 running
legs, due to the lack of Potomac swimming permits (go figure!). 1.5K run,
