| Russ has decided to do the Chicago Marathon in early October. --------------------------------- "Placing one foot in front of the other I eventually reached the finish line in 3:35 marathon, for a total of 10:38, 18th in my age group and 154 over all (including the little known DC state title!). Again, not great, but I'll take it any day. I'll take finishing any day. Unfortunately, I did not qualify for Hawaii, but I am still learning what this sport demands and my confidence is growing. The goal is reachable, but not until next year."  --------------------------------- Our friend Henry Grossman celebrated his last day of being twenty-nine, by posting a 17:07 at the Worldgate Center 5K. Congrats to Henry for this race, and a belated happy birthday to him. ---------------------------------

He is organizing a co-ed Team. For any guys wanting to run the Philly Distance run on September 16th, please contact Dave Keating, who is organizing the men's team. --------------------------------- We did a happy hour on August 3rd at Rock Bottom Brewery in Ballston. Among those who graced us with their presence were Mark Drosky, John Hayward (amazingly, still able to walk after doing Western States 100 miler), Anne Daugherty as well as the usual suspects. A good time was had by all. --------------------------------- Best of luck to both Bryon Powell and Yancy Hall, who both will be both running in the Hood to Coast Relay August 24-25, 2001. The largest relay race in North America, its stretches 195 miles from the top of Oregon's Mt. Hood, down to the Pacific Ocean, in Seaside, Oregon. Over 12,000 runners are expected to participate. Each team has 12 runners, with a course record of 15 hours. And we wish Prasad Gerard all the best in the Leadville Trail 100 Ultramarathon, which is August 18th and 19th. This is one of the toughest 100 milers in the country (though honestlly, none of them are very easy). Among other challenges, the race starts at over 10,000 feet. Over 500 ultra runners are slated to start the race. | |||
