Sunday Run

Please be prepared for some road closures on your way to WRC’s 8:00 am social run tomorrow morning. The Marine Corps Marathon will cause some road closures near our CB2 meeting spot, but the group has traditionally met on MCM Sunday, so I expect that if you’re able to make it, there will be some others there as well. It sounds like most of the WRC board will be racing tomorrow or out of town, so don’t wait around for us!

WRC also has an opportunity to assist with the Georgetown Half Marathon on October 29. We have been asked to provide the race with a handful of WRC volunteers to staff three water stops on the course from approximately 8:00 am until (at the latest) noon. Our participation would mean a generous contribution to WRC’s financial health. If you are at all interested in helping out (or for more information), email our treasurer, James Scarborough, at jbs1958@comcast.net, and copy me (jordan@washrun.org).

Team WRC,

We’re back for another edition of Sunday running, this week at 8:00 am. We’ll meet in front of the CB2 in Georgetown and go from there. Coffee and conversation at Dean & Deluca following the run.

Make sure to check out our race calendar at washrun.org. And while you’re there, think about starting or renewing a membership to WRC for 2017.
Speaking of races, Marine Corps Marathon is just 10 days away!

OMG, Blade Runner 2049, I really need to discuss this with someone…

OK, deep breath taken, here’s your usual weekly data download from our illustrious prez…

We’ll be running on Sunday morning from CB2 at 8:00 am, rain or shine. Come join us for the run, and stick around for coffee at Dean & Deluca.

Good luck to any and all who are racing the Portland Marathon, Chicago Marathon, or Army 10-Miler this weekend!

Sunday Run

Our Sunday Social Run takes place tomorrow morning at 8:00 am. Meet in front of the CB2 in Georgetown, and reunite at the Dean & DeLuca for coffee after the run.

If you’re looking for an early start, or need a few extra miles, some WRC folks will meet at 7:00 am in front of the CB2.

Vice President Silver L. will preside while I get my elliptical on, and I’ll catch up with everyone at D&D at around 9:30.

Don’t forget about our community race calendar on the WRC website if you’re looking for a local race to run.

Because we certainly need our beauty sleep…

Now that the weather has cooled off and we have made it through Labor Day weekend, our Sunday run will return to the traditional 8:00 am start time. Please join us on Sunday September 10 in front of the CB2 in Georgetown for our weekly group run, followed by coffee at Dean & Deluca.

If you’re interested in starting earlier, a few of us will be there at 7:05 am for a six-mile warm up before meeting with the rest of the group.

Thanks to Carla Freyvogel for spearheading our wildly successful Labor Day Run of Shame for yet another year, and thanks to Robert Kirk, John Evans, Zach Byrum, and John Kendra for your fun and informative presentations along the way. This year marked our first Run of Shame celebrity sighting, as we encountered “Morning” Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski at our first

Sunday Run … and more

It’s obviously the best weekend of the year. College football, US Open Tennis, Yankees/Red Sox…. and lots of opportunities to run with WRC!

Sunday, we’ll be meeting in front of the CB2 on M Street for our 7:00 AM social run. A few die-hards will be there at 6:05 AM to fit in 6 miles before the rest of the group arrives. And wear your Sunday running finest for our first Sunday photo.

Labor Day Monday is our fourth annual RUN OF SHAME. If you’re new to the group, a regular, or haven’t been by recently, this is the event for you. Here are the details…

Run Of Shame / Sunday Run

Looks like we are in for near-perfect conditions for our Sunday distance run! Come on out for some quality miles with your running buds, and cap it off with coffee and socializing at Dean & Deluca after. Variable pace groups (7:00 – 10:00) and distances (8-20 mi).

We’ll start as usual at 0700 in front of CB2 on M and 33rd in Georgetown. For those running really long (e.g. 20) and still desiring to make social hour before everyone else leaves, a few stalwart souls will start at 0600 to grab a quick 6 miles around the mall before rejoining the main group at 0700. (That very select group has lately been a ~8min pace group.)

Finally, remember our (4th?) annual Labor Day Run of Shame, taking place on Monday, Sept. 4 (so, two Mondays hence) at the Georgetown Waterfront. See flyer below. This is always a blast and has proven a great WRC recruiting event as well. Plan on coming out to participate and be an ambassador for the club—try and bring a friend!
